4 dead, scores injured in crash between cars, petrol tanker in KZN

Four people have died and at least 26 others were left injured in a crash between a petrol tanker and three vehicles on the N3 between Estcourt and Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal.

The crash occured on Monday afternoon.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Services spokesperson, Robert McKenzie says the hazardous truck caught fire after colliding with the three vehicles.
"Emergency services are still on the scene of a serious crash on the N3 highway northbound at Estcourt in Midlands.
"There has been a crash involving four vehicles, two trucks and one of them a tanker carrying a hazardous substance which is currently burning, the other are light motor vehicles, and a fourth vehicle is a bus."
McKenzie says passengers sustained serious injuries.
"Paramedics are treating thirty patients at the scene, several of these patients are critically injured and others have sustained serious and minor injuries.
"They have all been treated at the scene and have been transferred to the hospital as we speak. The N3 highway in the vicinity of Estcourt is currently closed, the tanker and the bus are creating a severe heat which is affecting southbound carriage."
