Five hostages escape Sydney Siege

Five hostages have escaped the central Sydney cafe where a gunman is holding up to 30 hostages.

Two women ran to the safety of police at 5pm after three men fled the scene just an hour earlier .

Police believe there is only one man who is holding the hostages.

 

The man pictured below has put up flags that appear to be shahada flags that have on them the Islmanic testimony of faith affirming believe  in oneness. 

 

 

The flag has been recently adopted by extremist groups such as Al Qaeda linked al-Nursa Front.

Police have  not yet confirmed if this is a terrorist attack.

 

The Hostages have reportedly told reporters the gunman says he has four bombs and will release a hostage only when he gets his ISIS flag. 

 

He is also reportedly asking to speak to Australain Prime Minister Tony Abbott
