59 to appear in court over Krugersdorp violence

Fifty nine suspects are expected to appear at the Krugersdorp Magistrates court on Tuesday on charges of public violence.

On Monday, protesters blocked roads with burning tyres and rocks in various areas of Mogale City, as part of their planned march against an increase in crime, the presence of drug lords and human trafficking.
Protesters torched buildings, damaged police vehicles and set a police station alight in Kagiso.

Residents accuse the SA Police Service of turning a blind eye to crime.
Gauteng Police spokersperson Lungelo Dlamini says they have been monitoring the situation since the crowds dispersed late Monday
afternoon.
"Last night we didn't experience any incidents of violence, but we have deployments in the area."
