6 injured in A re Yeng bus crash
The driver of a BMW is in a critical condition in hospital after his car crashed into an A re Yeng bus.
The City of Tshwane alleges the driver of the BMW made an illegal U-turn.
Tshwane MCC for Roads and Transport Sheila Senkubuge says five other people were also injured.
"In the bus was the driver and three passengers and the BMW had two people. The driver is in critical condition. Tshwane emergency services had to use the jaws-of-life tools to free the driver of the BMW and the co-passenger" she says.
She says the bus driver and the three occupants of the bus were slightly injured and taken to hospital for observation.
Senkubuge says they are frustrated by people's attitude to road safety.
"We need to look at the thinking of our population because people do things that will put their lives and those of their loved ones in danger. We have tried to encourage people to be safe on the road but it seems to be falling on deaf ears," she says.
Senkubuge says it's unfortunate that the crash took place during the Tshwane road safety campaign, TshwaALERT.
