6-year-old Limpopo rape victim laid to rest
Six-year-old rape victim Boitumelo Matsekelong will be buried in Serageng in Limpopo on Sunday.
Boitumelo passed away at the Polokwane provincial hospital on Wednesday after succumbing to injuries sustained when she was attacked and raped.
A 35-year-old man, who is a relative of the young victim, has been arrested in connection with her rape.
Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man has been arrested by police in Maake, outside Tzaneen, in connection with the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
The primary school learner was raped by the owner of a local spaza shop where she stopped on her way to school on Thursday morning.
"The suspect allegedly gave the girl R20 after the incident," says Limpopo police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo.
"The victim's mother reported the matter to the police and the suspect was immediately arrested. Community members went on a rampage - damaging and looting foreign-owned shops.”
The suspect is expected to appear in the Lenyenye Magistrate's Court on Monday.
