The arrests were made during raids in the township following a night of unrest.
Police were deployed to Soweto after shops belonging to foreign nationals were looted on Wednesday night.

"These people they were found in possession of stolen property which we believe it might be the ones taken during the looting, as well as fridges.”
During the raids another suspect was arrested for attempted murder, although police say this was unrelated to the looting.
