The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) says the crash took place on Thursday morning
"It is alleged that the crash happenened when the ambulance collided with a sedan on N4 between Kuruman and Khathu. The occupants of the sedan had apparently stolen sheep and they panicked when they saw an approaching ambulance," says RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane.

He says the ambulance crashed in to the car after the driver of the car apparently attempted to do an illegal-U-turn on the highway.
The seven people who were killed were occupants of the car, while the two occupants of the ambulance were injured.
Zwane says seven sheep carcasses were discovered in the car.
