700 Joburg residents to benefit from Riverside title deeds
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The City of Johannesburg’s Housing MMC Mlungisi Mabaso handed 50 title deeds to Riverside housing project beneficiaries on Thursday.
The city appointed a developer in 2011 to build over 4000 multi-story RDP units in various extensions of Riverside View.
Mabaso says more than 700 beneficiaries will soon receive title deeds.
"We had to do the handover in line with Covid-19 regulations because we are dealing with senior citizens and people living with disabilities, we had to make sure that we protect them against the virus.
“So we decided to take only 50 today, but they are going to continue throughout the week until all 700 receive the title deeds.”
Mabaso says title deeds ensures ownership and dignity.
"As the government of local unity, we are determined to provide our residents with homeownership through various means and rapidly through the issuing of title deeds. We have started issuing them robustly and we will continue to dignify our residents in all seven regions of this city.”
Everyone who stays at the Riverside Development will receive their proof of ownership however we will be issuing them out in phases, this is the second time we are coming here and we will return for the remaining title deeds handover :@mlungisi_baso #JoburgHousing @CoJhousing^NS pic.twitter.com/IZYbyO23cV
