Updated | By ANA
A 70-year-old man will appear in the Goodwood Magistrates’ Court for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition on Friday, Western Cape police said.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday.
Police said the man was also charged for failing to safeguard his licensed firearm after it was found in his vehicle without supervision.
The man was arrested in connection with the arms cache found by police detectives at a residence in Bothasig last month.
Acting on a tip-off, police discovered the arms in a flat at the back of a house in Vryburger Avenue on 18 Deember.
They found more than 1 000 rounds of ammunition, assault rifles, pistols, silencers and right-wing paraphernalia were seized.
