9 killed in Limpopo crash

Nine people were killed and 27 others injured in a horrific crash involving four vehicles in Limpopo on Saturday night.

The crash took
place on the R579 near Rafiri village.
Provincial police say seven people were declared dead on the scene while two were certified dead on arrival at hospital.
The 27 injured were taken to various hospitals for medical treatment.

“It is alleged that a Nissan bakkie was overtaking another motor vehicle when it collided head-on with a Toyota Quantum. Subsequently, another Toyota Quantum and a Mercedes Benz sedan were also involved,” says Limpopo police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe.
The exact cause of the crash is being investigated.
