AA anticipates fuel price drop for February but worried about the outlook for 2020

The Automobile Association (AA) says there will be relief at the pumps for motorists next month, mostly thanks to ongoing declines in the price of oil since the second week of the year.

The organisation says it expects the price of 95 Octane petrol to drop by around 13 cents a litre in February and anticipates both
grades of diesel to decrease by four cents a litre.
It also anticipates the price of paraffin to drop by three cents a litre.

The AA's Lleyton Beard says oil has dipped to its lowest level since the start of December, but that the Rand/US dollar exchange rate is steadily moving in the opposite direction.
"The weakening rand remains a concern for us," says Beard.
"A continues decline of the South African currency against the greenback could be quite ominous for the res of the year. "
