Abandoned baby found in Klerksdorp veld

A 22-year-old collector made a gruesome discovery in Jouberton, near Klerksdorp in the North West on Wednesday, when he found a baby in a local veld.
The man reportedly heard the baby cry and when checking he found an infant wrapped in blankets.
North West police spokesperson Sam Tselanyane says the man called the police and other local authorities.

The baby, who is suspected to be only a day old, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
"Police have registered a case of child abandonment and the investigation continues.
The Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex's communication manager, Nico Masiu, confirmed to OFM News that the baby was admitted and that her current condition is stable.
The whereabouts of the baby's mother is unknown at this stage.
