ACDP worried ambassador to Ukraine may have left citizens behind

The leader of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) Reverend Kenneth Meshoe says his party is worried that the South African ambassador to Ukraine André Groenewald may have left citizens in limbo in the war-torn Ukraine.
Groenewald, his family, and embassy staff fled the capital city Kyiv on Tuesday as Russian troops advanced.
"When our citizens are still trapped next to the Poland border, and you hear that an ambassador has been evacuated who will take care of the students who remain trapped, how will they communicate with the other children."
"We also appeal to President Cyril Ramaphosa to urgently update the public on what government is practically doing to ensure the safety of all South Africans trapped in the Ukraine. We also want to know what Government’s policy position is on international conflicts."
"The President’s voice about what is happening should be heard loud and clear, particularly as it involves South Africa and our trade relations. His silence does not help and will only encourage unnecessary speculation and conjecture."
Meshoe says they have already engaged with the portfolio Committe on Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
