The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) has announced the passing of veteran member and first lady, Dr Lydia Meshoe
The party confirmed her passing in a statement on Wednesday.
She was the wife of party leader, Reverent Kenneth Meshoe.
Dr Meshoe served the party as the founder and president of the Women of Destiny and NEC member.
She also served as the provincial leader of the Gauteng Province and as a member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
The party described her as a true Proverbs 31 woman.
"Ma Lydia set an example to the women of South Africa in the way in which she served and supported our President, Rev. Kenneth Meshoe since the inception of the ACDP in 1993. She fought the good fight and finished the race while keeping the faith,” they said.
“As the President of the Women of Destiny, she played a major role in empowering and uplifting women across South Africa," said the party.
"We send our prayers and heartfelt condolences to the ACDP President, Rev Kenneth Meshoe and his family, and encourage ACDP structures to lift the family up in prayer during this time of bereavement."
