ACSA continues to battle jet fuel shortages at Cape Town International

The Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) has urged passengers departing from the Cape Town International Airport to arrive much earlier for their overseas flights

This comes as the airport continues to experience a shortage in jet fuel supplies.

Spokesperson Gopolang Peme says international passengers should at least arrive four hours before their scheduled flight.

“This will help us facilitate passengers much easier and give us enough time just in case they need to be rebooked because with international flights at times you’ve got to connect to another airline.

“So, the jet fuel challenges that we currently have means that we may need to move around passengers to make sure that they can make their flights on time and ensure there is a consistent and smooth process throughout.”

Peme says the shortage has so far resulted in the cancellation of one flight.

“There’s only one airline that cancelled their flights and that is United Airlines. But as things stand flights continue to move with very limited disruptions since this challenge began.

“The positive news is that as of this morning, the vessel with the jet fuel has arrived and docked in Cape Town and in no time after certain tests have been run we should be getting fuel pumped into the airport.”
