Action SA files motion of no confidence against Speaker Makhubele

ActionSA says it will table a motion of no confidence against the City of Johannesburg Speaker, Colleen Makhubele.
The party wants to remove Makhubele because she presided over two council meetings that the High Court later nullified.
The first meeting was on 30 September to table a motion of no confidence against Mayor Mpho Phalatse.
The second one was the election of Councillor Dada Morero as Mayor.
Action SA deputy chief whip, Zark Lebatlang says the motions will not bring instability to the City of Johannesburg.
"Wherever there is the bridge of the law we need to ensure that things like motions that are in rules of the council are being applied and make sure that people are impartial and fair, such as the speaker is deemed to do.
"From our observation that the speaker is doing things in an illegal manner but also some of her comments in media interviews, on social media in fact attacking certain political parties."
Makhubele, who is a councillor for the Congress of the People (COPE), served the council for seven months as chair of chairs before being elected as a speaker on 28 September.
The motion will be submitted on Monday and be tabled on Friday 23 November.
