ActionSA to vote against Tshwane budget adjustment
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
ActionSA has vowed to vote against the adjustment budget in the City of Tshwane on Monday.
The party is a signatory to the DA-led multi-party coalition in the metro.
Action SA spokesperson Lerato Ngobeni says the party’s service delivery priorities have not been included in the budget.
“The collective impact of the decisions made in the adjustment budget has been a systematic denial of ActionSA budget requests that relate to our pro-poor, pro-business service delivery agenda. As the party with support in all communities, we take our role seriously in ensuring that all residents of these municipalities are served by the programmes of government.
“No Tshwane government can be pro-poor or pro-farming if they reduce the budget aimed at fixing the water crisis affecting the residents of both Hammanskraal and Rooiwal who, for over 14 years, have lived with water unsafe for human or animal consumption or for the irrigation of crops.”
Ngobeni says service delivery projects need to be funded.
“We will not tolerate any effort to silence our contribution to making this coalition in Tshwane serve all the residents of this City in accordance with the signed multi-party coalition.
In a statement, the DA’s caucus chairperson Jacqui Uys called on Action SA to reconsider.
“The DA will make a last-ditch effort to convince ActionSA not to sabotage the coalition government by voting against the adjustment budget. We hope that sanity, and a sense of service to the people of Tshwane, will prevail.”
