Updated | By sibahle motha
A private security company phoned the police in Kabega Park after noting suspicious behaviour in a silver Mazda bakkie parked at a petrol station in Greenbushes, Port Elizabeth, in the early hours of Monday morning, said police spokesperson Majola Nkohli.
Officers questioned the trio, aged 23 to 30, and found out the bakkie belonged to Allan Clarke.
Police also noticed blood stains on the back of the bakkie and after further questioning of the suspects, one of them admitted to their involvement in an attack on the elderly farmer, Nkohli said.
He said officers accompanied them to the alleged crime scene, where they were shown his body.
The motive and circumstances for the murder were being investigated.
The three are expected to appear in the Kirkwood Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
