Africans must invest in Africa: Makhura
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
While the continent celebrates Africa Day, Premier David Makhura has appealed to Africans to invest in Africa. On this day in 1963, 32 African nations founded the Organisation of African Unity.
The Gauteng government and the African diaspora Forum are celebrating the day in Yeoville in Johannesburg.
Festivities began with a colourful parade thought the streets of Yeoville. Guests were dressed in their traditional attire and various African flags were also on display around the local Recreation Centre.
Premier David Makhura believes that in order for Africa to achieve its potential, Africans must work together to move the continent forward.
"This continent must be developed by ourselves. Yes, foreign investment is important, but African business people must invest in African economies," Makhura said.
