AfriForum vows to fight state of disaster extension in court
Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
AfriForum has slammed government's decision to once again extend the national state of disaster.

The Cooperative Governance Department says the state of disaster would continue for another month until April 15.
The extension was published in the government gazette on Monday.
Government says it needs to stay in place until there's alternative legislation to manage the coronavirus pandemic.
AfriForum filed papers in court last month challenging the continuation of the national state of disaster - saying there's no longer a need for it.
The lobby group's campaigns manager Jacques Broodryk says they'll continue their fight to end the state of disaster.
"This again proves AfriForum's point that the government has no plans of ever giving up the powers they have grabbed under the guise of an emergency over the last two years.
“There is no reason to continue the state of disaster, unless you're a power-hungry politician or the countless corrupt individuals who are profiting from emergency procurement irregularities."
