Rand Water's supply systems in the city have been strained over the past few weeks, leaving several parts of the city without sufficient water supply.

The entity blamed the issue on high water consumption as a result of increasing temperatures, something the city denied.

A public spat between the city and Rand Water ensued.

Tshwane's spokesperson Selby Bokaba says a meeting was held on Sunday, where the city and Rand Water agreed to increase water levels at key holding reservoirs.

"City of Tshwane and Rand Water will, based on demand and supply, increase water volumes in key holding reservoirs to ensure the long-term provision of water in the city amid high water consumption".

The resolution was implemented on Tuesday.

"These measures include controlling outlets flows from key holding reservoirs and moving water from healthier systems to assist areas where the high consumption had depleted the system and/or reservoirs," said Bokaba.

"Due to the high water usage, these interventions will be reviewed daily, and decisions made

based on water consumption".

The city has continued to implore citizens to use water sparingly.
