Airports Company South Africa clips SA Express' wings
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) has suspended aircraft
from the embattled state-owned airline SA Express from landing and taking off
from its runways.
Acsa says in a statement released late Thursday night, this is as a result of non-payment of airport fees accrued over a period.
Acsa says confidentiality prevents it from disclosing the amount owed by SA Express.
However, the two parties have been having discussions over ways to settle the amount.
The Company has dismissed claims by SA Express that Acsa did not hold up to its end of the deal.
"Unfortunately, these conditions were not met and the suspension of SA Express remains in place," Acsa says in the statement.
Acsa says it regrets the decision to suspend the state-owned airline; however, the decision has become necessary to ensure fairness to all airlines.
