AKA and his friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were killed outside a Durban restaurant, along the popular Florida Road,  in what police have described as an assassination.

Social media posts of the alleged suspects have gone viral and reignited speculations over the motive for the killing.

KwaZulu-Natal police have neither denied nor confirmed reports that three suspects were arrested in Cape Town, saying they will provide an update on any progress in the investigation “in due course”.

In their statement, Lynne and Tony Forbes say they are aware of the public discontent related to the progress that has been made in the probe, but they’ve also deeply concerned by irresponsible actions, accusations, and assumptions that may cause more harm than good.

“At this time, we urge the Megacy to mourn responsibly and ask for patience so that law enforcers have the space to do their job. We humbly request that you continue celebrating Kiernan’s life, preserve his memory, and continue his legacy through his music,” the family said in a statement on Wednesday.

AKA’s parents have also warned the public about people posing as members of the Forbes family who seek donations and investments under false pretexts.

“We have not opened any donation accounts or requested any investments.”

The rapper’s last album ‘Mass Country’, which was released posthumously, has been well-received by fans and continues to top local charts.
