LISTEN: Al Jama-ah confident of unseating DA in Western Cape
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
Al Jama-ah party leader Ganief Hendricks is confident that the party has done enough work on the ground to unseat the DA in the Western Cape.

Western Cape is the only province governed by the DA.
However, opposition parties in the province have accused the DA of neglecting Black people in the Western Cape.
Speaking to Jacaranda FM News, Hendricks said his party is willing to partner with the MK party, EFF and ANC as coalition partners in the province.
"We want to remove the DA from the Western Cape. We have been campaigning for the last four months, and we have a very good premier candidate, Professor Muhammed Haron.
“He is the son of professor martyr Imam Abdullah Haron, who was tortured to death while he was in detention without trial.
“He served as my researcher in Parliament for two years, as CEO for another party, so we are going to do very well in the Western Cape," said confident Hendricks.
He accused the DA of wanting to turn the Western Cape into a “zionist province”.
"They have already invited people from all over the world who are Jews to come and settle in the Western Cape. They have already built houses for them in Sea Point to move in,” Hendricks said, without providing evidence to back up the claim.
“It is like the settlement in Israel where Jews are encouraged to become settlers," he alleged.
Hendricks also claimed the ANC had already approached his party, offering them the position of the speaker.
"I told them we don't want to be the speaker. We want to be premier because we are going to do very well in that province," he said.
'At the moment we have only one seat in Parliament, one seat in the provincial legislature in the Western Cape.
“We are going to increase it to ten seats, five in Parliament and five amongst the provinces," he predicted.
The party launched their election manifesto in March in Lenasia, Johannesburg.
Hendricks said the party would want to ensure that all citizens have access to clean water, decent housing, health care, land to produce, employment, and basic education.
"So, Al Jama-ah continues to strive hard towards achieving true liberation and to attain most if not all the democratic ideals that are enshrined in our constitution.
“As lawmakers in all spheres of government, the party has helped and continues to assist communities with various service delivery problems; it has brought Parliament to the people through the establishment of constituency offices in areas such as the Cape Flats, Fordsburg, and elsewhere," he said.
