Alex fire destroys 15 shacks
Johannesburg Emergency Services has confirmed that 15 shacks were destroyed in a fire that erupted in the Alexandra township in the northern part of Johannesburg.
Spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says the incident happened on Sunday night.
"Last night, we attended to multiple shacks on fire on 3rd Avenue where about 15 shacks were destroyed by the fire incident, leaving two male patients were treated for smoke inhalation,"

Mulaudzi says the cause of the fire is still unknown and he has encouraged residents not to leave candles or paraffin stoves unattended.
He says all the affected families will be assisted with alternative housing.
