It’s where President Cyril Ramaphosa will launch the party’s election manifesto.

We are only months away from the 2024 general elections, which will be held on 29 May.

Security is tight around the 56,000 seater stadium, with police presence on every street and corner.

Taxis and busses, filled with supporters dressed in ANC Regalia, are being guided by marshalls to drop- off zones.

Inside, the sea of green, black, and gold is slowly growing, with ANC members singing and dancing to struggle songs.

In the middle, a massive stage is set up, from where Ramaphosa is expected to deliver his address.

The party says more than 70,000 people are expected to fill the stadium and the overflow areas that include the Durban Beachfront.

It’s a defining Manifesto for the African National Congress, which is facing major competition from opposition party’s like the IFP and the Jacob Zuma affiliated MK Party

Political analysts say Ramaphosa is under pressure this year to regain the trust of supporters and needs to address issues such as load shedding and corruption.
