According to reports the man most likely to take up the hot seat is Western Province coach, Allister Coetzee.

The General Council - made up of the 14 provincial presidents and their CEOs - made the final decision on the Springbok coach, but the Executive Council has the power to pick the support staff on their own.

And it looks like they have already made up their minds.

SuperSport rugby analyst, Brendan Nel says Coetzee's announcement would come as no surprise and might just have been the worst kept secret.

SARU already confirmed that former coach Heyneke Meyer's assistant, Johann van Graan - son of Blue Bulls CEO Barend - remains contracted to the national body, while Ricardo Loubscher and John McFarland have sought other challenges.

But the question remains around whether SARU would allow Coetzee to bring in a team of his own.

Brendan Nel says Coetzee is going to need all the help he can get to get SA rugby back to it's former glory.

"Allister is going to need help from all five our Super Rugby teams if he takes over as Bok Coach," Nel told Jacaranda FM News
