All quiet outside Nkandla as deadline looms for Zuma arrest
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
The scenes outside Nkandla are a far cry from the hundreds of supporters seen last week.
The long stretch of road leading to former President Jacob Zuma’s homestead in northern KwaZulu-Natal is almost deserted.
Other than a few locals and a makeshift stall selling ANC realia, only media and the defiantly-disbanded MKMVA have come close to the homestead.
Meanwhile, the midnight deadline for Zuma’s arrest is looming.
Police Minister Bheki Cele does not have long to get clarity from the Constitutional Court on Zuma’s pending litigation or face the difficult task of apprehending the former statesman amid threats of arrest.
A stanch supporter and a member of Amabutho, Ngizwe Mchunu, can be seen on the frontline of the Zuma defence.
Earlier Mchunu and MKMVA a minor confrontation ensued when police were turned police from the gates .
