A 19-year-old man appeared in the Itsoseng Magistrate's Court in the North West on Monday for allegedly raping his 10-year-old neighbour, police said.
The matter was postponed to February 10 for a further bail application, Colonel Emelda Setlhako said.
In December, the man asked the girl to accompany him to a nearby village and she agreed, Captain Pelonomi Makau said at the time. On the way he allegedly forced her into a plantation and raped her. The girl reported the attack to her parents when she got home. "She was taken to the hospital and rape was confirmed.
"The suspect was later arrested," Makau said.
