Alleged kingpin among 16 nabbed for fraud and corruption

At total of 16 people, including an alleged underworld kingpin and police officials, have been arrested in connection with fraud and corruption.

Police have been investigating the case, which relates to fraudulent firearms application between Cape Town and Gauteng, since 2017.
Three of the accused appeared at the Kempton Park Magistrates on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Vish Naidoo says Cape Town underworld boss Nafiz Modack and Anwa Gallie were both granted R10 000 bail.

This while police officer Lesiba Masoga was granted bail of R5000.
"All these accused must appear in the South Gauteng High Court on 10 July together with the other thirteen accused plus the following accused, Rehana Ismail - wife of Nafiz Modack - Roshana Ismail, Faried Cassiem, Abdulaliem Ismail and Natasha Vandalene Manuel,” says Naidoo.
"These five accused were arrested earlier this month bringing the total to 21 the number of suspects arrested so far.”
Police are still searching for at least five other people and arrests are expected soon.
