Almost 30 CPUT security guards arrested

Police have arrested several security guards at a Western Cape university.
Police say 28 unregistered guards have been arrested.
They had been stationed at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology's (CPUT) Cape Town campus.
Provincial police spokesperson FC van Wyk says: "Cape Town cluster prevention unit members apprehended 28 alleged security staff for being unregistered as well as fraud."
Police say the suspects will appear in court as soon as they've been charged.

CPUT students went on a rampage on Monday over a number of complaints.
Students want the suspensions of four student leaders lifted.
The students are accused of allegedly disrupting a council meeting in August and threatened to burn university buildings.
The students are expected to appear in a local court tomorrow.
When the violent student protest erupted on Monday, a CPUT security guard was assaulted, stabbed -- and had his gun, which he was using to fire rubber bullets, stolen.
