AMCU: Another two mineworkers killed
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) says two workers have died in separate incidents.

A total of 81 mineworkers have so far died in mining accidents this year.
According to the trade union, a worker was killed at Dishaba Mine near Thabazimbi in Limpopo, while the other one passed away at Kopanang Mine on the West-Rand.
“AMCU is concerned that both these incidents relate to falls of ground and both are repeatable accidents."
The deaths occurred while the mining industry gathered at the 2018 Mine Health and Safety Summit in Benoni.
AMCU president Joseph Mathunjwa says Mine Health and Safety Act need to be amended immediately.
“These calls included amendments to Section 23, which allows workers to refuse entering dangerous working areas as well as criminal liability to mining bosses found to be guilty of contravening regulations. It is simply ludicrous that the bosses still get exorbitant bonuses while our workers die,” he says.
