Analyst: Court likely to weigh in on Gordhan's appointment
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
Political analyst Ralph Mathekga believes it will take some time to settle the battle between Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane and Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.
This comes after Mkhwebane released a report on Friday which found that Gordhan violated the executive ethic code by failing to disclose that he met with one of the Gupta brothers.
"The challenge with this report by the public protector is that it will not come into effect immediately. This is subject to review," says Mathekga.
"This will likely be a long drawn-out battle."

Mathekga says President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to reappoint Gordhan will also be examined when the report is taken on review.
"I think the court will have to also weigh in on that. When the court is deciding on the veracity as part of the review of this report by the public protector, I would imagine that the court might actually weigh in on the appointment of Mr Gordhan recently as minister.”
