Gun-wielding ANC bodyguards fired
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
An investigation has been launched into a disturbing video which has surfaced on social media.
In the video, two men are seen making death threats.
In a statement condemning the two men's actions, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal identified them as bodyguards of ANC eThekwini Regional Secretary, Bheki Ntuli.
They have confirmed that the pair have since been fired.
However, KwaZulu-Natal ANC secretary Super Zuma would not confirm this to Jacaranda FM News.
"I saw the video. We will be investigating and we will act on it once we have all the information," he says. "The investigation will determine who they are and confirm whether or not they are bodyguards."
In the footage, two men can be seen holding firearms. The one is seen cocking an AK-47.
It is unclear when the video was filmed.
The original source of the video is also unknown at this stage.
However, several media houses have aired the footage.
The police ministry spokesperson Vuyo Mhaga says an investigation will be launched.
He says it must be determined whether or not the men were in possession of illegal firearms.
This comes amid a spate of political killings in KwaZulu-Natal.
