ANC condemns shooting of regional official

The ANC in the Western Cape on Sunday condemned the shooting of its Central Karoo Regional Secretary Windy Plaatjies in a Beaufort West township in the early hours of the morning.

“At this stage there is no reason to believe the shooting is politically motivated,” provincial secretary Faiez Jacobs said.

“We await more information from investigating officers. We are grateful that the shooting was not fatal and Windy’s condition is stable. Anyone with more information is urged to approach the police,” Jacobs said.

Plaatjies was reportedly in a stable condition and under sedation. He would be taken to a hospital in George.
