The African National Congress (ANC) has welcomed the terms of reference for the commission of inquiry into state capture.

The terms of reference was gazetted on Thursday and will focus mainly on deals done between government and the Gupta family.
The governing party says the commission must now start its work without delay.

"We believe that the Judicial Commission of Enquiry broadly meets the aspirations and desires of the ANC. We therefore call upon the commission to leave no stone unturned to speedily investigate and report to the nation of its findings."
The ANC called for the establishment of a commission of inquiry, without delay, at its recent national conference.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has also expressed satisfaction with the terms of reference, but says it remains concerned that the terms of reference could be expanded at a later date.
"We will be looking at the terms of reference closely with our legal team and we may decide to make applications to the commission, to lead evidence of our own in the inquiry and help the commission fulfil their mandate," says DA federal chairperson James Selfe.
The Economic Freedom Fighters are also broadly satisfied with the terms of reference, saying in a statement that it complies with the remedial action of former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela.
