In a statement, the party says: "the COVID-19 pandemic is real, fatal, and amongst us."

It adds: "The COVID-19 storm has arrived and all of us are required to play our part."

The part urged residents of Gauteng to not stigmatise those who test positive for the Covid-19 Coronavirus.

"Stigmatisation is usually associated with lack of adequate information or just outright fear of the unknown. In the recent past, few ANC leaders in Gauteng have tested positive to COVID-19. We wish to bring to the attention of Gauteng citizens that it does not matter who you, we are all vulnerable to COVID-19."

The party added:  "We can continue dismissing COVID-19 pandemic as we go along in our daily routine until it hits home. ANC Gauteng appeals to all Gauteng residence to take all necessary precautionary measures and steps to protect themselves."
