The haunting ground for may a South African politician, the Saint George Hotel in Irene, has shut its doors 30 years since it began trading.

The hotel, situated in the south of Tshwane, effectively closed down on Monday.
This is where the African National Congress (ANC) held its meetings, including the many national executive committee (NEC) gatherings.

"Recent challenges including the Covid-19 pandemic, load shedding and general service delivery failures have put our business under severe pressure, so much so that we have had to consider alternatives in order to remain viable,” it said in a statement.
The hotel says it will be assisting its clients with current bookings so that functions can move to other suitable venues.
