ANC in KZN backs Zuma's call for expropriation without compensation
Updated | By Samkelo Maseko
The ANC's biggest province, Kwa-Zulu Natal, is siding with President Jacob Zuma in the debate on land reform and his call for land to be expropriated without compensation.
This suggestion stands in stark contrast to the proposals contained in the party's policy discussion documents. But KZN's provincial chairperson, Sihle Zikalala believes the land issue needs to be tackled in a different way.
Zikalala says despite its strong views, the province also feels a referendum might be needed to give South Africans a voice n the land issue. He says provincial structures attending the policy conference in June will make their demand clear: "The land must be expropriated without compensation."

"We are clear on this issue. We are advocating for a review of the status quo. We want land to be expropriated without compensation and we are clear on that," he says.
He believes radical economic transformation must be fast-tracked.
"We are engaging and we will make our submission to the National Executive Committee of the ANC as we go to the policy conference," he says.
