ANC in KZN hails outgoing premier Sihle Zikalala

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has lauded outgoing premier Sihle Zikalala.
Zikalala announced his resignation as premier of the province on Friday.
This after he lost the position of provincial ANC chairperson Sboniso Duma by more than 200 votes at the recent provincial conference.
Zikalala also failed to make it onto the provincial executive committee.
“The ANC accepted Comrade Zikalala resignation with pain and difficulty as he was still doing a great job in the province since he took over,” provincial secretary Bheki Mtolo said.
“We are grateful to the job he has done for the people of this province and we appreciate that he made a conscious decision not to leave office hastily.”

The ANC now has to choose between KZN Finance MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube and ANC MPLs Mbali Fraser and Amanda Bani as the next premier.
All three will be going for interviews on Saturday.
Mtolo says a new premier will be sworn in once interviews are concluded and Zikalala's resignation confirmed by the provincial legislature.
