ANC lashed for 'putting weak women in power'
Updated | By Neo Motloung
African National Congress (ANC) veteran and a
cellmate of the late struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has admonished the
party for the types of women it puts in power.

Cecil Palmer was speaking at a memorial service for Madikizela-Mandela hosted by the Nelson Mandela Foundation at Constitutional Hill in Braamfontein.
In her speech Palmer listed women who were arrested, harassed and assassinated during the struggle for democracy.
To loud applause, Palmer then posed a question to the ruling party.
"Why is it that you put a weak woman at the head of women's ministries?
"It’s time to get serious about what you are doing, it's time we peal of the scabs and let's prepare this country.”
Palmer said she believes the ANC has a responsibility repair the country.
She urged South Africans take responsibility of repairing the country to honour Madikizela-Mandela, a woman she said "strived for freedom."
