ANC lay charges against Tshwane mayor
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
The African National Congress (ANC) in Tshwane laid three charges against Tshwane Mayor Stevens Mokgalapa at Brooklyn Police Station on Tuesday.
The party is accusing the mayor of running the metro into the ground.
One of the cases opened against him relates to former city manager Moeketsi Mosola.
"The charges relate to the conduct of the executive mayor of the city of Tshwane. On the 29th of August… in council where the following day he went on to settle and pay the former City Manager Dr Moeketsi Mosola, without going back to council to tell council how the negotiations went," says the Tshwane ANC chairperson, Kgosi Maepa.
Last week the city announced that it had parted ways with the controversial city manager.
As part of the separation agreement, it was decided that Mosola would be paid for the remaining two and a half years of his contract.
He adds that they will take the matter to court.
