ANC leaders confirm #GuptaLeaks' authenticity - Mantashe
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says four ANC officials, implicated in the so-called #GuptaLeaks, have confirmed the e-mails' authenticity.
Addressing journalists ahead of the Gauteng ANC's Provincial Policy Conference, Mantashe warned they can no longer deny the allegations, adding "that is the beginning of wisdom."
Roughly 200 000 electronic correspondence have been leaked to the media, exposing the Gupta family's alleged influence on government and top management at a number of state-owned entities.
"Up to now, four of our comrades have owned up," says Mantashe, commending them for doing so, "there's nothing that makes me happy when comrades own up, I love that."
Mantashe told delegates it makes the life of the movement much easier when those implicated take responsibility.
While President Jacob Zuma again pleaded ignorance mails in Parliament this week, a judicial commission of inquiry is set to be established to probe allegations of state capture.
Parliament has at the same time tasked four portfolio committees to look into the same matter, with one committee considering summoning members of the Gupta family.
Mantashe also called for the speedy establishment of a judicial commission of inquiry saying, "we want to establish truth from facts."
