She made these remarks at the ANC National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Boksburg.

The NEC meeting is expected to last until Monday afternoon.

To pledge the party's solidarity, members wore black to the gathering and Palestinian scarfs.

At least 1900 Gazans - most of them civilians and including more than 600 children - have been killed in missile strikes on the densely populated enclave.

Speaking to the SABC, Bhengu-Motsori explained their dress code for the weekend.

"It is a mark of solidarity, and it is not just symbolism because once we have had the president-led the door-stop opportunity with the media, he will also read out a short statement that pledges solidarity with the people of Palestine,” she said.

"Our call (is for) a two-state solution, for self-determination for the people of Palestine. When we go inside the closed session, there will be further discussions about the types of action campaigns the ANC must roll out in support of the plight of our brothers and sisters in Palestine. We stand and say free Palestine."
