ANC member in court after shooting security guard in sanitizer brawl

A senior member of the African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal is facing a charge of attempted murder after he allegedly shot a security guard during an argument over sanitizer.
Former Emalahleni ANC regional chairperson Arthur Zwane is facing a charge of attempted murder after he allegedly shot a security guard in Newcastle.
Zwane and two others allegedly refused to sanitize at a hardware shop in Osizweni following a request by a security guard.
Police spokesperson Jay Naicker says a fight broke out after the security guard struck Zwane with a pick handle.
The three men fled the scene and were nabbed at a local hospital.
Naicker says a firearm and several rounds of ammunition have been seized.
The three suspects appeared at the eMadadeni Magistrate’s court last Friday and remanded in custody until Friday.
