This follows the serious findings arising by the auditor-general in its report on the city’s finances for the 2021/2022 financial year.

"They have delivered their final nail on the coffin and we will not renege from our responsibility as an opposition and majority party in the Tshwane Council,”  the ANC’s George Matjila said on Tuesday.

"The Auditor General of South Africa followed what the internal performance audit has pointed out in all of its work: lack of leadership, poor reporting and continuous inaccurate and misrepresentation of facts.”

Findings made against the city include irregular expenditure of R10 billion, unauthorised expenditure of over R600 million, and fruitless and wasteful expenditure understated by over R1 billion.

Matjila said the DA-led coalition has jumped from one scandal to another over the past seven years.

"The lame excuse for failing to provide a safe community, clean water, reliable public transport and clean environment was that the ANC is either to be blamed or apportioned blame. We can therefore, without repeating many failures from the DA-led coalition, state that there is no future in the current coalition of parties.

"We are appalled by the silence of ActionSA and Freedom Front Plus on the current state of affairs. All parties have buried their heads in the sand."

"(The) FF Plus and ActionSA will never lead any council in this country but will govern through corrupt coalitions like this one in the City of Tshwane. They allowed the corrupt Kratos tender to go unaddressed due to their desire to lead at all costs.”
