Majodina is accused of pulling the strings to get her son a tender to supply personal protective equipment during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The invoice that recently surfaced shows her son's company provided the state with 150 thermometers, to the tune of R52 500.

ANC MP Lawrence McDonald claims that no due processes were following in the awarding of the tender.

"What I have is an invoice that was issued by the company and the company belongs to her son, but the previous director of the company was Pemmy Majodina's daughter, so it's been a family business for a long time.

"The strange thing about it is that that company is not in the medical field and the company, according to the invoice I received, only has issued 10 invoices since its existence in 2017," McDonald added.

McDonald opened a case of fraud and corruption at the Cape Town central police station on Friday morning.

"It is with the police, and they are investigating it.

"It is unfortunate that we have to take it to this. We waited the whole week for the ANC to act of this and they never did. I can't sit idly by while nepotism takes place," McDonald said.

McDonald is not the only ANC MP to take action against Majodina.

Mervyn Dirks also filed a complaint at the Office of the Public Protector on Friday.

"It is really unfortunate and regrettable," Dirks said.

He added the governeing party would have to draw a line in the sand for its leaders and members.

"However, this is an opportunity for the ANC leadership to prove to the country and its membership that they are serious about dealing with nepotism, malfeasance and unethical behaviour against any of its members found wanting and not just as a tool to fight factional battles

"The ANC needs to act decisively," said Dirks.

"We have not been sent to Parliament to earn fat salaries and create business opportunities for our families whilst the poor, unemployed volunteers of the ANC are starving."

The ANC still faces mounting pressure to exercise its step-aside resolutions which will see corruption accused members suspended from their positions pending investigations.
