ANC: Outdated software reason for Joburg hacking
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The African National Congress (ANC) in Johannesburg believes outdated software is the reason why the City of Johannesburg’s website was hacked.

The city's website was hacked on Friday morning, which has left customers unable to access its online services.
"It seems as if the current software that is being used to secure the software is outdated, so we call upon the city to make sure the latest software is used to secure the network," says spokesperson Jolidee Matongo.
Matongo could also not confirm if a ransom was demanded by the hackers, but says reports have been doing the rounds.
'We've heard that hackers are demanding 4 bitcoins in exchange for them returning whatever they need to return to the city.
"We think that the city has to work with the law enforcement agencies, to make sure that people who are involved in such acts are detected and sent to jail," he said.
