Ramaphosa visited the families of the deceased and the injured at various hospitals in Limpopo on Tuesday.

The ANC supporters from the Molemole sub-region in Limpopo were travelling to Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga when their bus crashed on the R71 in Magoebaskloof outside Tzaneen.

Preliminary reports from the provincial Department of Transport and Community indicate that three buses followed each other when the third bus hit the second one from behind and overturned into a gorge.

Five people were confirmed dead, while several others sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention at various hospitals in the province.

Addressing the media, Ramaphosa said he would not be able to attend their mass memorial service on Thursday and burial on Saturday as he will be in Uganda and DRC Congo, respectively.

"That is why I felt that I must come and pay my respects personally and on behalf of the National Executive Committee of the ANC and also say my condolences.

"We have said that we will take the responsibility for all the arrangements that need to be made to put them to rest, and we will take over, of course, with your cooperation and participation, your guidance and your leadership in the whole process of burying them.

"And we have also said that we will be supportive in all efforts, whether for social psycho-analysis or assistance, we will be very supportive.”
