The African National Congress' (ANC) Treasurer General Zweli Mkhize has reiterated the party's support for media freedom.
Mkhize says complaints over the intimidation of journalists are very worrying.
"There should not be a sense of targeting and intimidation of the media", says Mkhize.
Mkhize says when challenges arise, the courts and the press ombudsman should be utilised to resolve the problems.
Mkhize's comments come after journalist Tim Cohen, who is Business Day editor was assaulted while political commentator Karima Brown was threatened outside Peter Bruce's house, where members of Black First Land First (BLF) staged a picket.
